Road Trip to North of the South (End): Nelson Lakes National Park
December 26, 2015
After drove around one hour and a half, we reached the lodge. We stayed in Travers-Sabine Lodge for one night. It is really close to the lake, only around 5-10 minutes walks. We were really tired when we got there, we missed the lodge and keep driving. It was so dark and we tired, we didn't catch the lodge sign on the left, and suddenly we found a sign "Nelson Lakes National Park". We panicked for a while. We thought we're stray. We checked the map again and we're in the right place. Then we turned around and drive slowly. Finally, we found the lodge! It's time to have a good sleep.
A misty morning views in Lake Rotoiti.
We had to leave in the early morning because it was the last day of our trip. We're going back to Wellington by ferry in the evening. And from Wellington, we flew back to Auckland in the noon.
We explored the lake before we leave the town. Since it was still in the early morning and it was raining in the night before, there's still a lot of foggy around. But it's okay, it made the view more dramatic.
We arrived just right on time in the ferry port. We returned the car and left South Island. Thank you South Island, until next time! The weather was really nice on the way back to Wellington, sunny all day long. We only had limited time for going to an airport, so we had to be quick. We were hungry but didn't want to buy the dinner in the airport. We decided to have quick dinner in the closest restaurant from the bus stop to the airport. Unfortunately, our flight to Auckland was delayed for almost an hour, when we got there. Oh well...

Finally, I got home safe and sound, really tired emotionally and physically. It was an only short break, but a lot of things happens, good and bad: my lens felt down, bad weather, and delayed flight. Despite those things during the trip, I can't wait to go back on the road again. Exploring the country.
