In 1863, Thomas Blake Glover built a house on the hill in minami-yamate, nagasaki. Now century later, the memories of glover's life in those days remain in this garden. Enjoy!

Back in early 19th century, Dejima was the only window to the west during Japan's period of National Isolation. The island was built firstly on 1636 in order to isolated Portugese people from Japan people. Few years later, Portugese expelled from Japan and Dutch came to Japan. Dutch worker decided to move their factory into Dejima and it became a center of trade and also housed the living quarters of the dutch employees since that time. Neither dutch employees or japanese can come and go freely to dejima.

Inside the house of Dutch Chief Residence
The dutch would eat twice a day on the second floor of the chief residence and all the meals were prepared in the same kitchen.
Nowadays this place was no longer island and became tourist spot in Nagasaki. It's easy to get there from Nagasaki station, take tram number 1 and get off in Dejima. The ticket fee in order to enter this site is 500 Yen and it can be bought in front gate.
